How will this development address our community need for affordable housing?
The proposed development will provide 94 new units of affordable housing for seniors with household incomes between 30-80% of the Area Median Income, which would significantly advance our goals for new affordable housing rentals and affordable housing for seniors.
Is the City donating the land for this development?
Cohen-Esrey has requested a donation of the lot to support the project’s financial feasibility.
Has the City already paid the Cohen-Esrey Development Group to begin work on this development?
No – this project has not received any financial support from the city to date.
What happens if the exclusivity agreement with Cohen-Esrey expires in June 2026?
If the exclusivity agreement expires prior to the City Commission coming to a decision on land donation, the agreement could be amended to extend the deadline. The developer or the city could also choose not to amend.
What will happen to the public parking located at 711 New Hampshire Street?
The lot at 711 New Hampshire currently has 74 spaces of 2-hour free parking, which includes 2 ADA accessible and 2 electric vehicle stalls.
The proposed project includes 101 stalls for resident parking and 10 public parking stalls, all off street and located in an underground parking garage underneath the apartments.
What will happen to the trees currently located in the lot at 711 New Hampshire Street?
Any removal, preservation, or replacement of trees would conform with the city’s land development code.
What will happen to the EV chargers at the current parking lot?
Those types of details would be determined later in the design process if the City chose to pursue the sale of the 711 New Hampshire lot.
